Birthday time, July 31st.  She loved her gifts and Grandma, Grandpa & Uncle Vanner being here.

At the beginning of August, we had a great weekend in Eastern Washington, near Pomeroy in the Wenatchee National Forest with the crew from Alaska.  Mostly we hung out at cabin with an amazing viewpoint of the valley below.  Smoke was impeding on us by Sunday morning, but a great time with our old friends.

Grandpa & Grandma Brinegar made a trip in August to visit.  What a nice time treat and some rare quality time with them.

Our little girl is getting so big and with so much personality.

An array of pictures over the last few months.  I haven't been so good at updating the blog.

Kevin is really enjoying the yard work.  Loves mowing the grass, but finds it is not easy with "run away Brooklyn", so his solution is to put her on his back, until she can't stand it any longer.

Good friend (from Fairbanks) Ann Farris, who is now living in Portland came over in April to visit us.  We had a blast getting out on the hiking trails.  Brooklyn is starting to become a trail runner and increasing her endurance.  She is tolerating more and more time out of the backpack, which is a good thing for us because she is really starting to get heavy.

Surprisingly the Boise zoo is quite good.  Kevin & Brooklyn have visited there many times since we moved here.  This was our first visit in April when Ann was visiting.  They have quite a large variety of animals in close proximity to each other.  Makes it easy for toddler walking.

She's ready to take on Jeff Oatley in a biking race.

No we didn't dress her in umpteen layers of ruffles.  She demanded to wear the coat out on a dog walk.  Already an opinion about what she wears.  I may be in trouble.  I was always fearful I would have a daughter who is really into clothes, shoes & make-up.

Easter weekend.  We were lucky to have grandpa & grandma come and visit to help out while Kevin was in Boston for the marathon.

Puffy cheeks mean two pieces of candy in her mouth at the same time.  Yes, she did get candy for the first time.

This was a fun night, not really.  Our first attempt at a camping trip.  Of course I mean car camping since we weren't sure what was going to happen.  Thank goodness we didn't decide to backpack into a camp sight.  The afternoon started wonderfully with a drive to Crouch.  It was a warm afternoon in May and a beautiful drive.  We went for a short hike and then the dogs swam in the nearby river.  After dinnertime, it was getting time for bed.  Many attempts at getting Brooklyn to sleep in the tent ended about 3 1/2 hours later when Kevin had had enough after Brooklyn bit him from being so tired.  At around midnight we were driving back to Boise.  We still have high hopes that we can backpack this summer, but need some practice on tent sleeping with a toddler.  Any suggestions from parents would be greatly appreciated.

Over Mother's day weekend, Brooklyn, the dogs & I took a trip to visit grandpa, grandma & Uncle Vanner in Packwood.  Kevin was away in Fairbanks getting our house ready to sell, so we decided to make the 7 hour trip, which wasn't actually too bad.  We feel so fortunate to be close enough to see our families more often.

It was a musical weekend with Brooklyn & grandpa playing the Ukele & drums.

Dad brought back some cook monster slippers.

Almost every weekend we get out and meet some friends (Kerrylyn on left & Julie on right, Jacho-dog) for a hike in the foothills.

We have been so lucky to have visitors.  Uncle Jeff, Aunt Marie & cousin Charlie came to visit.  Brooklyn loved having a guest her own size in her house and nearly every day says "Charlie".  Kisses & bear hugs seemed to be her specialty, although Charlie thought that might be a little too much love to send his way.  Thanks guys for coming to see us in our new town.
